Gunmetal sits between black and silver — a darker, muted grey tone that reads as more understated than solid black without going as light as a standard silver finish. It's a less common choice than either of those two, which is part of the appeal for anyone who wants something distinct without being especially bold.

Why the Tone Holds Up

As with our other colored tungsten finishes, the gunmetal tone is set into the tungsten carbide itself rather than applied as a plating or surface coating. Because the material resists the scratching that wears through plated finishes on softer metals, the gunmetal tone holds its color through years of daily wear rather than showing the base metal underneath at points of frequent contact.

Where Gunmetal Fits Compared to Black or Silver

If black feels too stark and silver feels too plain, gunmetal is generally the middle ground worth trying. It pairs particularly well with brushed or matte finishes, since the muted tone doesn't compete with texture the way a high-polish black or silver surface can.
